WAIC Statement on Black Lives Matter

The Wilsonville Alliance for an Inclusive Community (WAIC) stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and the movement’s purpose to bring awareness to the violence disproportionately experienced by Black communities.

The Black Lives Matter movement amplifies the voices of those speaking out against systemic racism, and it advocates doing this while combating and countering acts of violence.  WAIC aims to engage in informed dialogue, advocate for equitable policy advances, and celebrate human dignity. These stated purposes align with the Black Lives Matter efforts to attain fair policies and to do so while nurturing restoration and connection in the Black community. By listening to and working to understand the voices in the Black Lives Matter movement, we strengthen our ability to engage in informed dialogue.

The Wilsonville Alliance for an Inclusive Community stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter’s stated purpose of dismantling racism by lifting up the black community, which historically and presently suffers oppression from institutional discrimination.

Together we will create a community that celebrates the human dignity of all.
