WAIC Up! Weekly Update

September 9, 2022 Wilsonville Alliance for Inclusive Community

Housing Equity Action Team (HEAT) to meet today, September 9 at Noon

HEAT is a team within the Wilsonville Alliance that works on advancing housing equity in Wilsonville. For more information on housing inequality in Wilsonville, please read the WAIC statement on equitable housing. We are working to address the following gaps:

  • The need for affordable, multi-room homes to support multi-generational housing, especially for Black, Latino, Indigenous, and people who identify or are perceived as a racial minority

  • Single-parent homes and their need for affordable housing that is connected to jobs, transit, and services

  • Low or fixed-income individuals and families, and their need for homeownership

  • People in need of emergency, transitional, or supportive housing

WAIC gathering and business meeting on September 21 at 7 pm at Clackamas Community College

We will be starting up routine meetings, bi-monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. The first hour is time for connection with a diversity, equity, or inclusion practice, followed by a WAIC business meeting.

Location: Clackamas Community College - Wilsonville (Conference Room W207) - 29353 SW Town Center Loop E, Wilsonville, OR 97070

One of our main goals for 2022 will be to fill and confirm WAIC positions (Co-Chair, Secretary, and Inclusion Process Officer) so that we can have a five-person board.

Please reach out to us (connect@wilsonvillealliance.org) with any questions or offers to help us get WAIC up and running in a successful, inclusive way.

DEI Committee meets on September 13 at 6pm to discuss city flag pole policies, events calendar, and more.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month (calendar/agendas available here) to identify and address systemic barriers to inclusion that exist within the City’s practices, processes, regulations, events and other initiatives.

For more information, please visit the DEI Committee webpage.
